Nordstrom Rack To Open Soon In Novato As First Marin County Location

NOVATO, CA -- Nordstrom Rack is opening soon at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center in Novato -- the Seattle-based retailer’s first location in Marin County.

Nordstrom Rack, described as "the off-price division of Nordstrom, Inc. offering on-trend, of-the-moment clearance merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com as well as items purchased specially for Nordstrom Rack," will open to the public at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 11 in a 39,000-square-foot space at 212 Vintage Way, the company announced this week.

To mark the occasion, customers are invited to a "Rally at the Rack," beginning at 8 a.m. May 11. There will be free coffee and breakfast items, giveaways and a chance to win gift cards and a shopping spree, according to a company statement. At 8:25 a.m., a drawing will be held to select one customer who will receive a shopping spree and early access to the store.

The first Nordstrom Rack opened as a clearance center in the lower level of the Downtown Seattle Nordstrom store in 1973. As Nordstrom expanded across the country, Rack stores followed.

This year, the Marin location is among 17 Nordstrom Rack stores the company is opening, along with one relocation, across the United States. Other new locations this year in California include one in Los Angeles and one in Vacaville. A location in Daly City will also relocate. The company's plans for 2018 include the relocation of a Long Beach store.
