Novato Celebrates National Night Out Tuesday

The annual community-building event takes place 5-7 p.m. tonight at Pocket Park.

NOVATO, CA – Community members and law enforcement officers across the country, county and city of Novato, will celebrate National Night Out Tuesday night. The annual event promotes community-police partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

In Novato, community members will have a chance to meet local police officers and firefighters, get crime prevention tips and participate in family-friendly activities. There will also be food, inflatables and games for kids. The event takes place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Pocket Park, located at 950 7th St.

The event is organized by the Novato Police Department, in partnership with Novato Fire and Novato Parks and Recreation.

Created in 1984, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Last year, more than 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities across the United States, Canada, U.S. territories and military bases participated in the event.
