Novato District Named Mira Patel As Principal At Lu Sutton Elementary School

The Novato Unified School District is pleased to announce that Mira Patel has been named Principal at Lu Sutton Elementary School pending Board approval on May 5, 2020. The appointment is effective July 1, 2020. Ms. Patel comes to NUSD and Lu Sutton with over 8 years of experience as an elementary educator and administrator. Principal Jennifer Dudley resigned from her principal role in March 2020.

Ms. Patel was most recently at John Reed Elementary School as the Assistant Principal and primarily responsible for implementing positive student acknowledgment and behavior interventions through a restorative approach.

Mira expressed her enthusiasm for Lu Sutton, “I am honored to join this team of professionals who are dedicated to the wellbeing of students and excited to collaborate with the staff, students, and families at Lu Sutton Elementary School. Go Cheetahs!”

“I could not be happier to have Mira Patel join the NUSD team as the principal at Lu Sutton Elementary School. She brings the right mix of character, intelligence, and experience to lead Lu Sutton forward,” commented Superintendent Kris Cosca.

The District held virtual meetings in which Lu Sutton staff, English speaking parents, and Spanish speaking parents were invited to provide feedback on the qualities they would like the next principal of Lu Sutton to have. After receiving community input and in assessing candidates for the position, Ms. Patel rose to the top of embodying those qualities and characteristics.
