Novato Driver Accused Of DUI, Crashing Into Parked Car: Police

Marco Dzulitza, 24, had a suspended license from a previous DUI conviction.

PETALUMA, CA – A Novato man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after the vehicle he was allegedly driving crashed into a parked vehicle over the weekend in Petaluma, police said.

An officer patrolling the area of Payran Street and Rio Vista Way saw a moving Toyota Corolla hit a parked BMW around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the Petaluma Police Department. The officer found three people inside the vehicle but no one in the driver's seat.

Two of the occupants identified Marco Dzulitza, 24, of Novato, as the driver. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police allege Dzulitza refused to perform sobriety tests. Because he was identified as the driver and because he appeared to be intoxicated, police arrested him on suspicion of DUI. His blood-alcohol content was later found to be 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08, police allege.

A records check revealed Dzulitza had a suspended license from a previous DUI conviction. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
