Novato Eatery Honoring Today's 'National Burger Day' with Free Burgers

Promotion is for anyone with a "burger" or similar-sounding variant in their name.

A newly-opened Novato eatery is honoring “National Burger Day” with free burgers for anyone with the right-sounding name.

Smashburger is offering free eats today to anyone with a “burger” or “berger” - or anything that sounds close - in their name.

A Novato store employee confirmed that the Redwood Boulevard shop is participating in the Denver-based chain's promotion but said the store hadn't had any takers halfway through their lunch hour.

Their is no shortage of eligible local residents though. Novato has four “Burger” and 11 “Berger” households according to whitepages.com. And that doesn't include the countless variants with something that sounds similar in their name.

Customers are required to present valid identification proving their actual burger-related names. And no promises, but it probably can't hurt for “Pattis,” or anyone else with a burger-related name that doesn't fit with the technical promotional guidelines to at least ask.
