Novato Fire Blamed on Propane Tank Explosion

A local home's deck caught fire after the explosion, fire officials report.

NOVATO, CA- Firefighters extinguished a residential structure fire Friday afternoon in Novato after a propane tank exploded.

Around 4:30 p.m. firefighters responded to an address on Wild Horse Valley Road. After the propane tank exploded, a deck caught fire as well as the back of the house.

No injuries were reported and foul play is not suspected, but firefighters asked area residents to keep barbecues at least 10 feet away from the nearest building and check all connections on gas lines.
