Novato Killer Tracked To Nevada In Murder Case: Police

NOVATO, CA — Two 19-year-old Novato men have been arrested in connection with the targeted shooting that killed a 31-year-old man earlier this month, police announced Tuesday.

Andres Ruiz Lindo was arrested Monday evening in Fernley, Nevada, on suspicion of murder in the killing of Travis Wine, according to the Novato Police Department. Christopher Lopez Chavez was arrested in Novato and booked on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact, police said.

Wine was shot Aug. 4 in southern Novato. Officers responding to the shooting found Wine wounded, and he later died at a hospital, police said.

Investigators initially said the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack, but a suspect and firearm were not found at the scene. Police later identified Wine as the victim and continued asking the public for information.

After a roughly three-week investigation, detectives obtained arrest and search warrants for suspects in the case, police said.

Just before 8 p.m. on Monday, members of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit and Novato police investigators said they arrested Lindo on West Newlands Drive in Fernley. He was booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of murder, police said.

Novato detectives and the Marin County Special Investigations Unit then arrested Chavez on Los Robles Road in Novato. He was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact, police said.

Investigators said they also served search warrants at two homes and on two vehicles in southern Novato in connection with the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
