Man Stabs Sleeping Roommate, Self: Novato Police
A Novato man was hospitalized Friday after allegedly stabbing his sleeping roommate and then hurting himself, according to police.
NOVATO, CA — A Novato man was hospitalized Friday after allegedly stabbing his sleeping roommate and then hurting himself, according to the Novato Police Department.
Officers responded around 7:30 a.m. Friday to the 800 Block of Diablo Avenue to help a 20-year-old man who had been stabbed multiple times, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.
After roughly three hours, authorities found the suspect, a 36-year-old man, inside an apartment, suffering from self-inflicted knife wounds, according to police. The suspect had "significant injuries" and was taken to a trauma center.

An investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim are roommates. Police said the suspect attacked the victim with a knife while he was asleep. The victim fled the apartment during the attack and contacted a co-worker, who called 911 to report the stabbing.
The suspect is in stable condition and under guard at a local hospital, police said. Once medically cleared, he will be booked into Marin County Jail and his name will be released.
