Novato Man Killed Girlfriend, Then Self, Police Suspect

NOVATO, CA – The boyfriend of a woman was who was found dead in a Novato home Tuesday killed himself later that day in El Dorado County, a Novato police lieutenant said.

Craig Anthony DiGrazia, 58, is suspected of fatally shooting his 61-year-old girlfriend Teresa Distel in their home on San Marcos Court, Lt. Mike Howard said.

DeGrazia later shot himself in El Dorado County, Howard said.

The couple had a dating relationship and police had previously been called to the house before the murder.

There are no indications of any health issues that might have led to a murder-suicide pact, according to Howard.

Distel was found dead with gunshot wounds during a welfare check in the home around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

DiGrazia also lived there but no one else was found in the home Tuesday, police said.

Police said Tuesday that DiGrazia was believed to be involved in the murder, that he might be driving a silver 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and should be considered armed and dangerous.
