Novato Motorcyclist Arrested After CHP Pursuit
The CHP arrested Anthony Azevedo, 50, of Novato, for evading police, possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended license.

NOVATO, CA – The California Highway Patrol arrested a Novato man Wednesday for evading police after a 7-mile pursuit from Novato to west Marin County.
The CHP began receiving calls around 10:30 a.m. about a Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider driving recklessly on U.S. Highway 101 in Novato, the CHP said.
The motorcyclist was speeding the wrong way on highway ramps and on the shoulder of the highway, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

CHP Officers followed the motorcyclist when he drove the wrong way down a ramp and south to San Rafael.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office was informed of the pursuit as the motorcycle rider drove west on Lucas Valley Road into west Marin, the CHP said. The motorcycle rider then drove around a patrol vehicle and onto
Nicasio Valley Road at a high rate of speed, the CHP said.

At the Nicasio Reservoir, the motorcycle rider turned onto Point Reyes-Petaluma Road in excess of 100 mph, the CHP said.
A CHP motorcycle was waiting for the motorcycle rider at the Hicks Valley Fire Station where the rider stopped and surrendered, the CHP said.
The CHP arrested Anthony Azevedo, 50, of Novato, for evading police, possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended license, the CHP said.
CHP said officers found a small dog shivering in fear inside the motorcyclist's jacket and called the Marine Humane Society to pick the dog up. Officers impounded the motorcycle for 30 days.
