Novato PD Tracks Down Stolen Car With Automated License Plate Reader

NOVATO, CA- Police in Novato recovered a stolen vehicle last weekend with the use of an automated license plate reader, officials say.

Officers recovered the vehicle at 8:50 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Hill and Indian Valley roads.

The person who reported the vehicle stolen said it had been taken on Thursday from the area near Alameda de la Loma and Calle Arboleda, according to police.

Police searched the automated license plate reader database and found the license plate had been scanned on Friday. Officers located the vehicle near the area where they had scanned the plate, police said.
