Novato Police Arrest Man on Weapons, Threats Charges

Several witnesses say the man brandished a weapon at a gas station, threatened to kill people.

NOVATO, CA -- A man who was allegedly brandishing a fake gun was arrested after several witnesses called the police, believing the weapon was real.

At about 8:15 am on Nov. 10, Novato Police dispatch received several calls of a person who was at the Safeway Gas Station at 5720 Nave Dr., who was brandishing a firearm at people in the area.

Officers responding to the scene located the individual involved, identified as Kurt Wizner. Wizner was immediately detained and a replica firearm was located. Officers conducted several witness and victim interviews and learned that prior to the officer’s arrival, Wizner allegedly pointed the replica firearm at three people who were at the gas station.

Officers were also told that the suspect threatened to kill at least one of the victims who believed the fake firearm was authentic.

Wizner was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a weapon and criminal threats.

At this time, police say, it appears Wizner acted alone and no real firearm or live ammunition was used during this incident.
