Novato Police Arrest One Driver for DUI During Checkpoint

The checkpoint took place from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, Dec. 16 on northbound South Novato Boulevard at Sunset Parkway in Novato.

NOVATO, CA – Stepping up its DUI enforcement during the holiday season, the Novato Police Department arrested one driver on suspicion of driving under the influence during a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint late last week in Novato.

The checkpoint took place from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, Dec. 16 on northbound South Novato Boulevard at Sunset Parkway.

Police said a total of 386 drivers were screened during the checkpoint, resulting in one DUI arrest and 10 field sobriety tests. In addition, Ebony Barksdale, a 36-year-old Antioch resident, was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, and for a felony warrant out of Alameda County, police said.

The Novato Police Department’s checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
