Novato Residents: Are You Ready for a Disaster?
The Police Department will hold a free preparedness course next month.

NOVATO, CA -- In order to help the community be prepared for natural disasters like earthquakes, wildfires, landslides and floods, the Novato Police Department will conduct a free Get Ready community disaster preparedness course from 7 PM - 9 PM Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the All Saints Lutheran Church, 2 San Marin Dr., Novato.
To address the public safety risks, a simple and free two-hour emergency preparedness program is being offered to all households in the county through the Get Ready Emergency Disaster Preparedness Program, which is a collaborative effort between Marin County communities and jurisdictions with a goal to prepare households with the skills and information to survive and cope with a disaster for five to seven days.
Prepared citizens can mean reduced injuries and illnesses due to a disaster, as well as reduction in calls to over-burdened emergency first-responders, hospitals and urgent care centers.
