Dear NUSD Elementary Virtual Learning Academy Families,
Find out what's happening in Novatofor free with the latest updates from Patch.
Thank you for making the commitment to the Virtual Learning Academy (VLA). We’re excited to share that, after carefully evaluating the final enrollment counts by school and prioritizing feedback from staff and families, we are able to create classes that prioritize maintaining a strong school connection. Classes are, where possible, composed of students from your home school, and in some cases one other school.
What does this shift mean?

This means that classes, when possible, are being designed so that students are clustered with other students from their home school providing opportunities to maintain and build community and connections with classmates and families. Next week, your student’s classroom teacher will be reaching out to introduce themselves, classroom schedules and activities. The schedule for the students will be exactly the same as the flexible schedule at their sites.
Your child will continue to be enrolled in the VLA overseen by us, Principal Olinyk and Principal Davis. Your child will also remain connected to a school site through emails and invitations to join whole school activities, remote assemblies, clubs, and enjoy social connections with their school friends.
We welcome and appreciate your suggestions and feedback. We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we continue to make adjustments for the betterment of our students. We will deliver a world class virtual learning experience for your child. We’ve acquired some extraordinary curriculum, we’ve assembled a staff of our top educators, and we’re deeply committed to responding to your needs.
Warm regards,
Elizabeth Sesma-Olinyk
