Hello VLA Middle School Families,
September is National Suicide Prevention Month
Find out what's happening in Novatofor free with the latest updates from Patch.
The month of September is National Suicide Prevention Month. This month provides us an opportunity to engage in conversations with one another and deepen our own understanding in promoting suicide prevention and recovery awareness. Please see the communication from NUSD which provides resources for talking with children. https://nusd.org/9-8-20-announcements-information/
What are my Students Learning this School Year?
NUSD teachers will be using California Common Core State Standards in their core content areas. NUSD teachers have identified the essential standards by grade level and content area to focus their instruction and feedback on. They have also developed drafts of Proficiency Scales for each Essential Standard which is the progression of meeting proficiency at a standard. You can find these Essential Standards and Proficiency Scales at https://sites.google.com/students.nusd.org/nusdpbe/home
Click on the secondary tab to get the middle school grade levels.
VLA Now has an Office Manager
We are so excited that Vivian Jensen will be joining the NUSD VLA learning community as an Office Manager. Vivian will support the program by following up on attendance, scheduling substitute teachers, and communicating with students and families. You can contact her at vjensen@nusd.org . We will be setting up a phone line for her as well and share that information once it comes available.
