Novato's Minimum Wage Rises On New Year's Day
The annual adjustment to local minimum wage standards increases the floor by more than 50 cents in the new year.
NOVATO, CA — The minimum will rise for Novato workers on Jan. 1 as annual adjustments take effect based on the consumer price index.
Novato adopted a local minimum wage ordinance in 2019, accelerating the timeline for a $15 minimum wage and then mandating annual fluctuations based on changes to the local consumer price index, up to 3.5 percent. The ordinance applies to all employees who work more than two hours in the city on a given week and has three scales based on a business's size.
The latest change will bring each bracket higher by more than 50 cents.
