Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Novato

NOVATO, CA -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Novato Tuesday, authorities said.

The Novato Police Department received reports that a woman was hit by a vehicle around 1:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of Novato Boulevard. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Novato Boulevard between Simmons Lane and McClay Road when the collision happened, police said.

The woman, a 56-year-old Novato resident, suffered traumatic injuries to her head and extremities, police said. Officers and bystanders immediately began lifesaving measures, police said, but she died after being transported to Marin General Hospital.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Witnesses are asked to call Novato police at 415-897-4361.
