2 Confirmed Dead In Plane Crash Near Lake Berryessa
The incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. near Little Portuguese Cove, officials said. The deceased men's bodies were recovered.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – UPDATE: MONDAY, MAY 8, 5:35 p.m.
Two men employed by a Vacaville amphibious light sport aircraft company ICON Aircraft died when one of the planes crashed at Lake Berryessa this morning, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office identified them as Jon Murray Karkow, 55, and Cagri Sever, 41, both of Vacaville.

Karkow, the pilot of the ICON A5 Amphibious Light Sport Aircraft and an engineering fellow at ICON Aircraft, previously lived in Tehachapi, and Sever moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan just a week ago, the sheriff's office said.
Their bodies were removed from the small two-seat aircraft, which has been a common sight recently over the Lake Berryessa area, sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower said.

Efforts were still underway this afternoon to recover the plane, Blower said.
The plane, capable of landing on water, crashed around 9:20 a.m. into land in the area of Little Portuguese Cove at the eastern end of Lake Berryessa between Pleasure Cove Marina and Markley Cove Resort, Blower said.
Deputy sheriffs and emergency personnel had to approach the crash site by boat, Blower said.
Autopsies on the men are expected to be completed by the end of this week.

Two people died this morning when the plane they were in crashed on land in Napa County near the eastern end of Lake Berryessa, a Napa County sheriff's captain said.
The crash occurred at about 9:20 a.m. near Little Portuguese Cove between Pleasure Cove Marina and Markley Cove Resort, Capt. Steve Blower said.
The single-engine Icon A5 crashed under circumstances officials have not determined yet. The crash site is inaccessible by land so emergency personnel are getting to the site by boat.
Paramedics confirmed at the site that both people were dead, according to Blower.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.

A single-engine plane carrying two people crashed this morning in Napa County near Lake Berryessa, a Napa County sheriff's captain and Federal Aviation Administration officials said.
Sheriff's officials initially said the crash occurred at about 10 a.m., but now say it was about 9:20 a.m.
The single-engine Icon A5 crashed under circumstances officials have not determined yet.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said. The condition of the victims was not immediately available.
The Napa Valley Register reported two fatalities but that could not be confirmed with officials.
A 911 caller reported a possible plane crash around 10 a.m., however, Napa County firefighters at the time had not found anything nor did FAA officials receive reports of any missing planes.
