Manhunt Continues For Targeted Shooting Suspect As Novato Shelter-In-Place Is Lifted: Police

NOVATO, CA — A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Tuesday after a shooting in Novato prompted a shelter-in-place order and a large-scale search for the suspect, police said.

At 2:39 p.m., police stated the shelter-in-place order for the Alameda del Prado area was lifted, and Alameda del Prado reopened to traffic between Ignacio Boulevard and Posada del Sol.

Officers responded around 10:10 a.m. to the 400 block of Alameda del Prado after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots. Officers found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the shooting was targeted and involved people who knew each other. The suspect fled on foot before officers arrived.

Police described the suspect as a man about 5-foot-6 wearing dark pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.

Residents on Calle Arboleda and Alameda del Prado were ordered to shelter-in-place. Residents were asked to lock their doors and avoid the area if they are not already at home.

Police closed Alameda del Prado from Ignacio Boulevard to Posada Del Sol.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, drone teams, a CHP aircraft and a Vallejo Police Department K-9 unit searched the surrounding neighborhood.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
