Police Hunt For Suspect Who Fled Serious Assault In Novato

NOVATO, CA — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of seriously injuring another man in an assault Monday near downtown Novato.

The assault happened just before noon near Grant Avenue and First Street, according to the Novato Police Department.

Witnesses told police the man battered an adult male victim, causing serious injuries. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Police described the suspect as a man in his late 30s, around 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He was wearing a beige and brown camouflage-style T-shirt, dark denim pants and black shoes.

The man was riding an orange mountain bike and was last seen heading west on Grant Avenue toward Second Street, police said.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the assault to contact the department.
