Police Respond To Reports Of Gunfire In Novato
Officers will continue to be in the area as a precaution.

NOVATO, CA – Police are investigating reports of gunfire Tuesday in Novato, authorities said.
Novato police received four calls about gunshots shortly before 11:30 a.m. in the San Marin neighborhood. Officers heard what sounded like gunshots in the distance but were unable to determine the source, police said.
There was no threat to schools or a need to shelter in place, police said.

"To ensure community safety, officers were positioned in the area in an effort to triangulate the location of any additional possible shots as other officers searched the area," police said. "Officers were also positioned near the schools in the area as a precaution."
In addition, a California Highway Patrol helicopter searched open spaces, but authorities were unable to find the source of the gunfire. Officers remained in the area as a precaution.

"There is no known danger to the community at the time," police said.
