NOVATO, CA – The eastbound lanes of San Marin Drive at Redwood Boulevard in Novato were closed Wednesday because police thought a white powder found in a stolen vehicle might be fentanyl, a police corporal said Thursday.

The driver of the stolen car, Alexandra Nicole Mahvi, 25, of Novato, showed signs of drug intoxication when police pulled her over on San Marin Drive, Cpl. Nick Zolli said.

Officers who questioned Mahvi noticed white powder on the floor of the vehicle and closed the road until the drug was tested out of concern it might be fentanyl, a powerful and dangerous opioid. The drug was tested and was not fentanyl, Zolli said.
