Purse Snatching Suspect Arrested In Novato
A 92-year-old woman was reaching for an item on a shelf at a Safeway store in Novato when her purse was snatched.
NOVATO, CA – A man suspected of snatching an elderly woman's purse was arrested this week in Novato.
The 92-year-old woman was reaching for an item on a shelf between 11:30 a.m. and noon at a Safeway store at 900 Diablo Ave. in Novato when a man grabbed her purse and fled, according to the Novato Police Department. The suspect was identified after police released a surveillance photo on social media.
Raphael Andre Ray, 24, was arrested at his Novato residence after a short chase 11:45 p.m. Thursday, police said. He was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of three warrants for robbery and identity theft and the purse snatching.

"The Novato Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance with identifying and locating Ray's whereabouts," police said in a statement.
