SMART Crews Conducting Overnight Track Maintenance In North Bay
Train service will not be impacted by the work, according to Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit.

NORTH BAY, CA – Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit will be conducting overnight track maintenance work during the next three weeks across the North Bay.
SMART crews will be working in the following areas:
- Aug. 1-7: Petaluma near Ely Road at Old Redwood Highway and in the Haystack Bridge area; Novato between the Novato San Marin and Novato Hamilton stations
- Aug. 8-15: Petaluma near Cedar Grove Park and W. Payran Street; Novato near Roblar Drive and near the Novato San Marin Station; San Rafael near the Marin Civic Center Station
- Aug. 16-23: Novato near Rush Landing Road and near St. Vincent’s School; in the the Redwood Landfill area
The maintenance work, which involves leveling the ballast under the rail, is being conducted during non-operational hours. Service will not be impacted, but there will be some noise due to the work, according to the transit agency.

The work will be done in the overnight hours, so that there will be no impact to our service. Because we are using heavy machinery, there will be some noise associated with this work. It will take about three weeks to complete all of the work.
