St. Patrick's Day at Moylan's

As it does every year, the Contra Costa County Sheriff Pipe and Drums showed up for the St. Patrick's Day festivities at Moylan's Brewery & Restaurant in Novato

The Contra Costa Sheriff Police Pipes and Drums made its traditional appearance at Moylan's Brewery and Restaurant on St. Patrick's Day. The band was established in 2005 and is the only "all police" pipe and drum band in California.

But, here's the backstory on its connection to Moylan's:

The lead piper, Ryan Sullivan, is a big fan of Moylan's and owner Brendan Moylan promised him that if he brought his pipe band to Moylan's Brewery and Restaurant every St. Paddy's Day, the brewer would name a beer after him.

So you can order a Ryan Sullivan's Imperial Stout pretty much any day you stop by the brewery.

It's a gentleman's agreement that gave birth to the 7-year tradition and an award-winning stout.
