Suspect In Fatal Novato Hit-And-Run Turns Himself In

Silvestre Rejuso was booked into the Marin County Jail Thursday afternoon on suspicion of felony hit and run causing death.

NOVATO – Investigators say that a suspect wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian two weeks ago on U.S. Highway 101 in Novato turned himself in Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Silvestre Rejuso was booked into the Marin County Jail Thursday afternoon on suspicion of felony hit and run causing death, officers said.

They identified Rejuso as the suspect driver using security footage of his vehicle leaving a casino in Rohnert Park and found his vehicle in Hayward.

Officers interviewed Rejuso, but he suffered a medical emergency during that interview and had to go to the hospital, according to the CHP.

They say he has cooperated with the investigation, however.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Daniel Glenn Matis, of San Francisco, according to the Marin County coroner's office.

Matis was found near the Atherton Avenue on-ramp to Highway 101 in Novato around 1 a.m. on Feb. 2. His vehicle was found on East Campus Drive around 1:40 a.m.
