Toy gun Trade-in Plays Games with Taxpayer Money

Toy gun trade-in plays games with taxpayer money

The Marin County District Attorneys Office’s decision to spend taxpayer money on buy backs of toy guns and violent video games is irresponsible. There are no studies that show that buy back programs have any affect on behavior. Not reduced crime, not reduced violence, and not reduced arrests. The only benefit is that the Marin County District Attorneys get to feel good about pretending to do something.

We all want less violence and less crime. Let’s find effective ways to spend our increasingly limited government resources on something that works. If the Marin County DAs want to feel good, then schedule a weekend seminar for yourselves on your own dime. And stop spending taxpayer money on useless buy backs.
