'Unusual Amount Of Change' Links Man To Marin Car Thefts, Police Say

Police say they found three pairs of sunglasses and an unusual amount of change in the suspect's pockets.

CORTE MADERA, CA — The Central Marin Police Authority arrested a Corte Madera man on suspicion of taking small personal items from vehicles Wednesday morning. Police say it started when they received a call around 6 a.m. about a suspicious male going through cars on Staghound Passage.

The caller gave a description of the man who entered a BMW and a truck then walked toward Spindrift Passage with items stuffed in his pockets, police said.

Police located the suspect, identified as Keivan Kimiyaie, 28, on Golden Hind Passage, found three pairs of sunglasses and an unusual amount of change in Kimiyaie's pockets.

One of the victims identified property that was taken from her car and the person who called police identified Kimiyaie as the man he saw inside the vehicles, police said.

Kimiyaie was booked in the Marin County Jail for possession of stolen property, theft from an unlocked vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and a violation of probation.
