A vehicle struck a power pole Tuesday in Novato, prompting police to ask nearby residents to shelter in place.

NOVATO, CA – A vehicle struck a power pole Tuesday in Novato, prompting police to ask nearby residents to shelter in place.
The accident happened in the area of Center Road. Novato police asked the public to avoid the area of Center Road from Wilson Avenue to Gregor Lane.
Residents in the area of Gregor Lane were asked to shelter in place because the power pole that was struck was leaning. Novato police and firefighters were at the scene and actively monitoring the condition of the pole.

The entrance to Miss Sandie's School from Center Road was closed. The school could still be accessed from Wilson Avenue, police said.
