Woman Crashes Into Novato Senior Center

Police say she suffered minor injuries.

NOVATO, CA- A Novato woman suffered minor injuries when she drove her car into the side of a senior center building in Novato Thursday morning, a police sergeant said.

The 34-year-old woman was driving east on Hill Road around 8:20 a.m. when she drifted across the westbound lanes and through a chain link fence at the Hill Education Center’s playground at 720 Diablo Road, Sgt. Eric Riddell said. The Hill Education Center is home to Marin Oaks High School, the NOVA independent study program and the Nexus Academy.

The vehicle continued east through the playground, through another chain link fence and into the parking lot of the Margaret Todd Senior Center at 1560 Hill Road, Riddell said.

The vehicle then struck an unoccupied parked vehicle and the west side of the senior center building, according to Riddell.

There were no children on the Hill Center Education playground and no seniors inside the Margaret Todd Center building at the time of the crash, he said. Some employees in the senior center were in another part of the building at the time.

The driver suffered a scrape on her left shin and complained of neck pain. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation, Riddell said.
