• Mountain lion sighting prompts police warning (oakdaleleader.com) — Oakdale residents on the east side of town are being urged to stay alert after a mountain lion was spotted near Maag Avenue and East D Street early Monday morning. Police say the animal appeared healthy and non-aggressive but are sharing safety tips, including keeping pets indoors at night, supervising children outside, and never approaching a mountain lion. Wildlife officials have been notified and will continue monitoring the situation.
   

• Oakdale might be sued over lack of Latinos on council. Should it have districts? (modbee.com) — Oakdale city leaders are weighing a switch from at-large to district-based council elections after a Malibu attorney threatened a costly lawsuit over Latino representation. The council has started a formal process, with key public hearings on Oct. 5 and 19 that will shape district maps possibly taking effect in 2028. Residents can attend at City Hall or watch on YouTube to weigh in.
