• Oakley police holding DUI/driver's license checkpoint on Friday (thepress.net) — Oakley police will run a DUI and driver's license checkpoint this Friday, Sept. 18, from 6 p.m. to midnight at an undisclosed location in town, aiming to catch impaired drivers and boost road safety. Residents are reminded that impairment can come from alcohol, drugs, or certain medications, and that a first DUI can cost about $13,500 plus a license suspension.
   

• Richmond City Council Agrees to 45-Day Moratorium on Data Centers (contracosta.news) — Richmond has temporarily halted new data centers, joining Oakley and Gilroy in pausing development while they study impacts on power, water, pollution, and costs.
