VISTA, CA — A brush fire prompted a road closure Thursday afternoon in North County.
The blaze, called the Fairview Fire, sparked in the 2900 block of Fairview Drive in Vista, according to North County Fire Protection District.
Crews stopped forward progress of the flames by 2:18 p.m., Cal Fire said. The fire burned about three acres near Fairview Drive and Gopher Canyon Road.
"Smoke may be visible, but there is no fire threat to our district," according to the district, which serves the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow.
The fire prompted the closure of Gopher Canyon Road between Little Gopher Canyon Road and East Vista Way, according to the California Highway Patrol. As of 2:30 p.m., the road remained closed.
Officials advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes, including state Route 76 and Deer Springs Road.
No injuries or structural damage were reported.
