Pipeline Fire Fully Contained On Camp Pendleton

Heavy smoke from the fire earlier in the week prompted a smoke advisory for parts of the county.

CAMP PENDLETON, CA — Firefighters Wednesday contained a brush fire that scorched more than 1,000 acres at Camp Pendleton and forced temporary evacuations of parts of the military base.

The Pipeline Fire, which started Monday afternoon at Range 501 near Stuart Mesa Road and Hammond Drive, burned about 1,065 acres. The fire was fully contained Wednesday, Cal Fire reported.

The blaze prompted evacuation orders for the base's 32 and 33 Areas, according to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The evacuation order for 33 Area was lifted at 8:27 p.m. Monday. The evacuation order for 32 Area was lifted at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday.

Heavy smoke from the fire earlier in the week prompted a smoke advisory for parts of the county, including Alpine, Fallbrook, Pala, Ramona and Valley Center.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
