Here are the top five stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. A reportedly armed suspect led Oceanside police on a slow-speed pursuit that turned into a standoff when he boarded a boat in the area of the San Luis Rey River Trail, authorities said. The man, who has not been publicly identified, reportedly stole the motorcycle and led officers on the pursuit that ended near state Route 76 and Canyon Drive. (fox5sandiego.com)
  2. Camp Pendleton will be conducting training drills with high-power explosives this week from February 5-11. A Noise Advisory Alert has been issued. Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sounds of explosions "booms" may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  3. The Oceanside Police are asking for help locating At-Risk Missing Person Sara Otero. Otero is a 28-year-old white female last seen on January 28, at the 1200 block of Aldernay Court, Oceanside. Otero is 5-foot-6, 130 pounds with blue eyes and long brown hair, wears glasses and has a flower tattoo on her arm. Otero may be traveling in a charcoal gray colored Subaru Outback with CA license plate 7GAB955. Otero often visits state parks (beaches and Joshua Tree) and is known to camp in her vehicle.   4. The California Attorney General's Office issued a consumer alert related to dried plum fruit and candy products that allegedly contain dangerous levels of lead, including several products sold by San Diego retailers. Anyone that may have already have them in your pantry, please check to see if they match the products that have been identified — and do not consume them." (City News Service)

  5. Three athletes with ties to San Diego County are competing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics that started Friday. Athletes with ties to North County who are representing the United States in the Feb. 4-20 XXIV Olympiad are Tessa Maud, Shaun White, and Kaillie Humphries. All three athletes are from Carlsbad.
