Boxing Love with Succulent Shakespeare will be new scenes written by California playwrights woven into scenes from Shakespeare. The scenes were inspired by the art of Oceanside artist Blake Kern and there will be a gallery showing along with the production which will take place at Apotheque Lifestyle Spa.
We are going to explore growing the scenes into a full production – possibly a rock musical.
Because these are individual scenes which will become a full production, rehearsals will be by scene and so each actor will have private rehearsals until the final week when we’ll put the whole production together.
Rehearsals will begin the middle of January. The monologues and scenes should be memorized by the first rehearsal.
We are going to be inviting members of the City Council and donors to an invitation only opening night to further our commitment to the production of an Oceanside Shakespeare Festival.
Cast Breakdown for Boxing Love with Succulent Shakespeare
We are more interested in talent and are not using age as a factor in order to cast the most dynamic, gifted, talent possible – except for Romeo and Juliet.
We would also like to be able to cast actors in both a contemporary piece and one of the pieces we’ll be producing from Shakespeare.
