The Brick Hotel Opens In Downtown Oceanside

After years of painstaking renovations, the wait is over and The Brick Hotel is officially open. Take a sneak peek at this Oceanside gem.

OCEANSIDE, CA — It's been a long time coming and is among the most anticipated openings in Oceanside. The transformation of the old Schuyler building into The Brick Hotel by fourth-generation locals has captured the public's interest throughout the five-year project. Oceansider's have watched in fascination as the historical building that dates back to 1888 was taken down brick by brick, retrofitted, modernized and rebuilt using the original brick to become a charming boutique hotel.

In 2017, a five-year adaptive reuse (and earthquake retrofit) restoration project began to update the old masonry building with all modern amenities and finishes, while maintaining the original brick facade and historical integrity of the building.

The Brick Hotel restoration project is more than just an investment for the Aldrich family, it reflects their love for Oceanside and the community. From the beginning, the goal they set was to keep as much of the Oceanside history that The Brick represents while building a community connection. The Brick will be a destination for locals as the home to Q&A Restaurant & Oyster Bar and Cococabana Rooftop bar.

Located on the ground level, Q&A Restaurant & Oyster Bar, named after executive chef Quinnton Austin, will serve chargrilled oysters and other New Orleans eats. Q&A will also provide a separate menu of food offerings to both Frankies and Stone Tap Room.

But wait there's more, The Brick will also be connected with Frankie’s Cocktail Lounge, Stone Beer Garden and Succulent Cafe.

Throughout the renovations the Aldrich family generously allowed the Patch access to photograph the metamorphosis of the formerly dilapidated building. Watch a slide show of The Brick as it rises from the ashes of time.

In our final sneak peek before the opening, we had the privilege of experiencing The Brick Hotel hospitality. The attention to detail is noticeable throughout the hotel. Starting with the modern contactless check-in options and the warm welcome message from the Digital Concierge that greets guests upon entering their rooms, which are decorated in a clean black and white tile that nicely contrasts with the exposed brick. The super-comfy beds and bath linens enhance the casual luxury feel of the rooms.

The Brick has the cozy beach vibe that makes it a great staycation for locals and an excellent choice for out-of-town guests that seek an authentic O'side experience.

Did we mention the view? The fourth-floor Rooftop Bar of the soon-to-open Cococabana, offers stunning near 360-degree views of downtown Oceanside all the way to the beach and up and down the coast. We predict it will become a favorite sunset spot for locals and visitors alike.

The Brick Hotel 'Where History Meets Modern' officially opened in June with the dining venues expected to open soon. Locals can sign-up for special offers and discounts on the hotel website. Visit The Brick Hotel
