Brush Fire Breaks Out At Camp Pendleton
A brush fire broke out at Camp Pendleton Monday, sending smoke over San Diego's North County.
CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A brush fire broke out at Camp Pendleton Monday, sending smoke over San Diego's North County.
The fire sparked on Range 409 at the northeast end of the military base, Camp Pendleton officials reported shortly after 5 p.m. on Twitter. By 6:15 p.m., the blaze had spread 15 acres. Crews stopped forward progress of the flames about an hour later.
The fire wasn't a threat to structures on or off the base, officials said.

SDG&E's Alert fire camera showed a large plume of smoke from the Red Mountain viewpoint. Smoke was also visible from Fallbrook, according to the North County Fire Department.
