Brush Fire Prompts Evacuations On Camp Pendleton
The areas closest to the fire on the base were evacuated as a precaution.
CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A brush fire sparked Wednesday on Camp Pendleton, threatening structures, prompting evacuations and sending smoke into nearby communities.
The blaze broke out on the west side of De Luz Road and moved east, according to the military base. The areas closest to the fire on the base were evacuated as a precaution.
Crews halted the spread of the flames by about 2:15 p.m., officials said. There was no immediate estimate of the size of the fire.
