A bevy of New York-inspired and named sandwiches using the highest quality meats and fresh bread baked in house can be found at Gandolfo's in Oceanside.

is true to its roots. Although franchised, it hasn’t lost any East Coast authenticity.

Having visited New York multiple times over the years, I can truly appreciate the names of each sandwich. From the NYPD Bleu (chicken breast, ham, mozzarella, spicy mustard, lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil and vinegar), to the 42nd Street (chicken breast, pastrami, swiss, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, Russian dressing and hot), Gandolfo's bakes all its bread fresh in-store—and, man, do they load these sandwiches.

If you ask for "deli style," they’ll do extra meat.

From breakfast to lunch and lunch to dinner, Gandolfo's has something for everyone, even vegetarians, and they sell Nathan’s Famous hotdogs.

Gandolfo's salads, sides and slaw are all freshly handmade daily, but what the eatery is really known for is its pastrami. Gandolfo's is a great place, but not high-end, so don’t expect lardo, culatello or lonza. The menu is easy to read, even if initially intimidating due to size, but fear not.

With the sandwich redemption stamp program you’ll surely taste more, if not all, of the menu. Daily specials, gelato and outdoor seating make this place one of a kind. Fair warning, there can be a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it.
