Camp Pendleton Marines Hit The Surf In Recent AAV Training
Hitting the Surf - U.S. Marines and Sailors conduct assault amphibious vehicle (AAV) training including a 1,000-meter swim to shore.
OCEANSIDE, CA — It's summertime, and tourists are roaming the shores of Oceanside, but it's the 1st Marine Division that's been hitting the surf.
The 1st Marine Division recently conducted assault amphibious vehicle (AAV) training off the coast of Camp Pendleton. Among the training exercises was surf qualification that includes a 1,000-meter swim to shore and rough water drills to ensure Marines are proficient with safety procedures for water operations.
