Chamber Launches 'Try It Local' Discounts to Boost Oceanside Businesses

If you think the economy isn't cutting you a break, you can head over to the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce "Try It Local" website.

Savings from 40 percent to 90 percent from restaurants, retailers and other Oceanside businesses are being offered through the chamber.

The discounts are similar to Groupon and other coupon-type services that are tapping into consumer demand for savings in the current trying economy.

Once on the "Try It Local" website, customers sign up for weekly notices of deals offered every Wednesday. If they like the current deal, they can buy the discount online by Thursday and receive a voucher on Friday.

The first offering is a 50 percent discount for breakfast or lunch at the , with a $18 bill cut to $9. Other offers will be available from other businesses, including Tony Pepperoni Pizzeria, , and .

Customers have just one day to buy in; as of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, some 17 people had purchased the Buccaneer's deal.

Conditions will vary for each deal. The Buccaneer discount expires on Oct. 10 and is limited to one person and one gift.

"The Oceanside area abounds with great local retailers and restaurants, and the chamber is working to make these offerings more affordable than ever," officials said in their announcement.
