- Did you feel it, Oceanside? "A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck Friday afternoon near Julian in San Diego County. The quake was recorded at 3:45 p.m. about 14 miles east of Julian, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake had a depth of more than 7 miles. The quake was felt across the county, including in Borrego Springs, Campo, Carlsbad, Julian, Lakeside, Pine Valley, Ramona, San Marcos and Spring Valley, according to the USGS." (Patch)
- Oceanside has a ton of Halloween fun happening this year. - Coastal train travel continues to be suspended from Oceanside to South OC as repairs are said to be challenging and expensive. "Metrolink and Amtrak, working with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), suspended all passenger service in late September between Mission Viejo and Oceanside for safety reasons. Freight service has been reduced to just one slow-moving train per day. Over the last year, the tracks just south of San Clemente State Beach have been pushed nearly 2 ½-feet outward by an old landslide that has reactivated." (LAist)
