For 8 years, The Barrel Room has flourished and found huge fans with wine enthusiasts and foodies alike. With the comfortable, living room feel in the dining room, romantic patio, wine tastings, and social hours those who reside or work in Rancho Bernardo are the luckiest of folks.
You will find that The Barrel Room will far exceed your expectations of a wine retail shop / restaurant. The shop offers over 250 wines and most you won’t find in other stores, plus they offer tastings with the Coravin method that allows you to taste some of the more upscale wines at a more reasonable price. It’s a perfect spot for aspiring sommeliers.
Every Sunday at 2pm they offer tastings of 5 wines paired with artisinal meats and cheeses. A lovely spot for a Sunday afternoon.

Newly appointed Executive Chef Trevor Chappell has taken the reins to update their menu and it is sure to please all of their regular customers as well as entice San Diegans to drive a bit to try out the fare.
“It’s a twist on the old menu. I don’t want to change it too much, but definitely want to add my fun and comfortable flare.” Chef tells me.

My recommendations:
Cauliflower Leek Soup
This soup is incredibly creamy. Neither the cauliflower or leek are overpowering, which makes for a perfectly balanced flavor. The crustini sides make for a delicious addition.
Lamb Chops
You are given two choices of rubs on these extremely tender chops. My favorite was the cajun rub, however the cinnamon chipotle offered a more adventurous taste.
Carmel Creme Brulee Cheesecake
Do you love cheesecake? Do you love Creme Brulee? Do you just love dessert? This dessert is in my dreams and will be until I am lucky enough to get to have another slice.
