Man Arrested in Killing Near Oceanside High School
Pablo Mendoza was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder Sunday evening.

OCEANSIDE, CA – A 24-year-old man was behind bars Monday on suspicion of killing a man near Oceanside High School.
Pablo Mendoza was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder Sunday evening, more than 12 hours after Ade Perdue, 22, was pronounced dead in the 300 block of South Horne Street near Michigan Avenue, according to Oceanside police and jail records.
“Based on the totality of circumstances, which included multiple interviews and processing of the crime scene, investigators determined a homicide had occurred,” Oceanside police Lt. Valencia Saadat said.

Perdue's cause of death was not immediately clear. Saadat said his body bore “no obvious or visible signs of traumatic injury.”
Police did not disclose what led them to suspect Mendoza.
