Marine Found Dead at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego

A Marine was found dead Monday in a barracks room at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, base officials reported.

The death at the military training station near Lindbergh Field was under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, MCRD spokeswoman Janice Hagar said.

The identity of the deceased Marine, who was not a recruit, was withheld pending family notification.

Hagar said she could release no further information, including the Marine's gender, age and rank, or whether the death appeared suspicious.
