At MiraCosta College, It's Not Too Late to Start Late

MiraCosta College’s fall semester began on August 18 and enrollment is up over last fall, but there are plenty of late-start classes available that start the weeks of September 2 and October 13. Classes are available daytime, evening or online. Students can take classes that fulfill transfer requirements, choosing from a variety of career and technical courses.

Here’s what’s new this semester at MiraCosta College:

• MiraCosta College will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 2 to dedicate its new science building at the San Elijo Campus. The event is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. The facility is located at the San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Ave. in Cardiff. At just over 4,700 square feet, the $5.3 million Building 1000 accommodates a chemistry lab, a general lab and a preparation lab, and includes rooms for instruments, equipment and other storage. An outdoor area allows space for students to gather and interact.

• MiraCosta College is offering several new certificate programs this fall that will enable students – in as little as a few months – to learn the skills needed for living-wage jobs at in-demand professions. The new certificates of proficiency are: Project Management (Business), 3D Modeling and Prototyping (Design), Construction Management (Design), Optimal Aging and Older Adulthood (Psychology).

• MiraCosta College will waive enrollment fee (currently $46 per unit) for all concurrently enrolled high school students taking MiraCosta College credit courses.
