Here are the top five stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. Sara "Celeste" Otero, 28, was last seen on Jan. 28, in Oceanside, California, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Authorities say the woman, who they've listed as "at risk," is known to frequent beaches and state parks, including Joshua Tree National Park. She allegedly told her stepfather she planned on meeting a friend at a local gym for a workout session but never arrived. The friend was unaware of plans to meet. The family's concerns grew when she failed to show up to work later that evening.(Oxygen)
  2. More than 6,600 juvenile and adult white seabass are being transferred this week from a Carlsbad hatchery to a grow-out facility on Catalina Island as part of a state-run program to replenish the dwindling species due to overfishing. The fish were trucked on Feb. 8 from the Leon Raymond Hubbard Jr. Marine Fish Hatchery to a boat in Oceanside Harbor and then to the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute's grow-out facility in Catalina Harbor. (Coast News)
  3. Deputy Jeremy Bedingfield and his dog Milo were driving northbound on Interstate 5 near Las Pulgas Road, a Camp Pendleton exit, when Bedingfield noticed a pickup truck weaving so that it sometimes crossed back and forth over the lane lines. Because the driver was going 70 miles per hour in a 65 speed limit area, he stopped her at the CHP checkpoint in San Clemente. He found 27 packages that contained heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine. (San Diego Reader)
  4. Starbucks will soon be raising prices at all stores amid disruptions brought on by the omicron variant, supply chain issues, increased labor costs and inflation, the coffee giant announced. In a company conference call last week, Starbucks said it missed a benchmark for its quarterly profit during the omicron surge, which caused labor shortages and spurred higher costs. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  5. Federal officials recently recommended a fourth vaccine shot for immunocompromised Americans. Californians may need to consider getting a fourth COVID-19 vaccine shot as immunity granted by the booster shots wane, according to new federal guidance. At-risk Americans who received an MRNA booster shot or third vaccine shot were recommended to get another vaccine shot three months after their last jab, according the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
