New Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Corridor Signs in Oceanside

Drivers and pedestrians will now know when they've entered the "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Corridor" along Mesa Blvd. in Oceanside!

A portion of Mesa Drive in Oceanside officially designated as the “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Corridor” in February 2012 now has signs depicting this!

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Corridor Entry Signs were officially unveiled during a ceremony on January 28. The unveiling ceremony concluded Phase 2 of the corridor project, which involved the procurement & installation of two signs to notify eastbound and westbound drivers and pedestrians that they were entering the corridor.
City of Oceanside Council member Jerome Kern, along with California Assembly member Rocky Chavez, North San Diego County NAACP President Satia Austin, Reginald Owens, and Gerald Hampton ceremoniously unveiled one of the corridor signs located at the corner of Mesa Drive and Ivey Ranch Road. The second sign is located at the corner of Mesa Drive and Old Grove Road.
Prior to the actual sign unveiling, guests gathered at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School auditorium where event speakers included Gerald Hampton, Reginald Owens, and Council member Jerome Kern.
Guests included Assembly member Rocky Chavez, City of Oceanside Council member Jack Feller, past Mayor of Oceanside Terry Johnson, City of Oceanside Neighborhood Services Director Margery Pierce, Ms. Austin and Dr. William Woods Jr., Past President of the Montford Point Marine Association San Diego Chapter.
